UAS Week~

notes and pen

Sepekan ke depan ini para orangtua dan anak dibuat sibuk oleh pekan ujian akhir semester, yang disingkat UAS. Sibuk belajar dan mengajar, sibuk ngasih setumpuk wejangan sebelum berangkat sekolah, sampai membatasi waktu bermain dan menonton anak.

Ada banyak cara bagi orangtua untuk menyiapkan anak menghadapi test atau ujian. Ada yang cuek dan santai bahkan cenderung abai. Ada yang too serius sampai menekan psikologis si anak agar mendapat hasil yang memuaskan. Ada yang anaknya mau test, yang justru nervous orangtuanya. Heheu..

Dulu saya waktu mau test, ada peraturan selama sepekan itu no main, no TV. Tiap malem digeber terus sama yang namanya belajar. Alhamdulillah nggak merasa tertekan. Mungkin karena saya tipikal anak yang hobinya belajar. Kind of weird hobby, isn’t it? *lol

Love Your Parents…

My Child, when I get old, I hope you understand and have patience with me. In case I break a plate, or spill soup on the table because I’m loosing my eyesight. I hope you don’t yell at me. Older people are sensitive… always having self pity when you yell.

When my hearing gets worse and i cant hear what you’re saying, I hope you don’t call me “Deaf!”..  please repeat what you said or write it down.

I’m sorry, my Child. I’m getting older.

When my knees get weaker, I hope you have the patience to help me get up. Like how I used to help you while you were little, Learning how to walk. Please bear with me.

When I keep repeating myself like a broken record, I hope you just keep listening to me. Please don’t make fun of me or get sick of listening to me.

Do you remember when you were little and you wanted a balloon? You repeated yourself over and over until you got what you wanted ……

If I had my child to raise over again,

I’d finger paint more, and point the finger less.

I’d do less correcting, and more connecting.

I’d take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.

I would care to know less, and know to care more.

I’d take more hikes and fly more kites.
